GOD IS ABLE

“Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” 1 Kings 17:9

There is an ironical statement in 1 Kings 17:9 which is ‘behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.’ It is ironical because the woman did not have much in her possession, as a matter of fact, she said to Elijah in I Kings 17:12 “And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” The person God said will sustain Elijah was one who physically did not have much.

I am certain that you are expecting something from God, but it will shock you that He may not use anything or anyone close to who you are looking at or expecting. Many people are busy at work with the thought that it must be through their job that God will sustain them, not knowing that God is preparing some unimaginable source of supply. Some people are looking up to some special connections, family or highly ranked friends as source of their help not knowing that the provision God is bringing their way is coming from the place they least expect.

God is making a way for you out of impossible situations, but you must not limit God by your expectation. Ephesians 3:20 says He is “…able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” You may be asking for a house to rent, but God is working out how you would be a landlord, you may be praying for a job but God is working out how you can be an employer of labor. God’s ways are not man’s ways and His thoughts not our thoughts.
